Surfskis for downwind

Downwind paddling suits a hull that picks up speed quickly to catch a run and then holds it. That mostly comes from length and a fine stern, so few short skis appear here.

All of these rate 6 or more for speed. Look at the stability rating next to each one too. Most paddlers are better off with a slightly slower ski they can stay balanced in while looking over their shoulder for the next run.

No single rating captures how a ski handles in different conditions. A ski that is comfortable in a clean swell can feel very different in short, messy chop.
