You're welcome to use what's here. We ask for a link back and a little care with the ratings.

Linking and quoting

Link to any page. If you quote a craft's specs or ratings, link to that craft's page and say when you took them, because we update the index as makers publish new figures and readers send corrections. A line like "Epic V10, Surfski Index, checked 2026-10-11" with a link is plenty.

The ratings are estimates

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Please keep that clear wherever you repeat them, and don't present a stability or speed number as a maker figure or a test result. How we rate.

What we ask you not to do

Please don't copy the catalogue in bulk, republish our ratings as a dataset, or mirror the craft pages. A copy goes out of date the day we correct something, and readers end up with wrong numbers under our name. The hull photos and views mostly come from the makers and photographers credited on each page, so they aren't ours to license. Ask them.

Assistants and agents

AI assistants and search tools are welcome to read the site and answer from it, as long as answers link to the pages they draw on. Every craft page has a plain markdown version at the same address ending in .md, the catalogue lists them all, and llms.txt explains the rest. For tools and agents there is a read-only search API and an MCP server at /mcp, both answering with links back to the craft pages. Prices are left out of those files on purpose, because they change between our checks. They're on the craft pages, with the date we last checked them.
