Nelo 62
6.20m x 0.43m elite race hull. Nelo raised and repositioned the seat and changed the bow angle of attack so the boat 'absorbs a lot more of the shocks of the ocean', giving a smoother ride on bumpy days than a hull this narrow would suggest. Three cockpit sizes (37cm, 39cm and 41cm hip width) spanning sub-75kg to 90kg-plus paddlers.

Layup weights
On-water profile
Both scores are rated at the hull's own design weight. How these are derived.
Speed here also has a traced hull behind it: measured off this boat's own side and plan photographs, the shape alone rates it 9.3, and the published score moves a third of the way toward that. What that means.
Suits: Elite ocean racing and hard downwind; flatwater racing for paddlers with the balance to hold it
Paddler weight
This hull is built around a paddler of about 85 kg. It stays workable from 75 kg to 90 kg, and sits at its best between 79 kg and 87 kg.
Derived from published hull dimensions and calibrated against manufacturer paddler limits, not taken from a marketing range. The method, in full.
Generations
Nelo's current elite ocean racing ski and the flagship of the renumbered range, replacing the 560 at the top of the line. Designed around four stated targets - stability, control, toughness and speed - with adjusted seat height and bow angle to absorb chop. Constructions AIR (10kg) and WWR (12.5kg); M, L and XXL cockpits.
What works, and what it costs you
What works
- Current Nelo flagship - the direct Elite S / V14 / Nitro 640 comparison
- Lightest ski in the Nelo range at 10kg in AIR layup
- Cockpit and bow work aimed specifically at rough-water control
- Three cockpit sizes including an XXL for 90kg-plus paddlers
Trade-offs
- Lowest stability rating Nelo publishes - elite paddlers only
- Not yet stocked by the Australian dealer
- Nelo publishes no price
- XXL cockpit dimensions still listed as TBA on Nelo’s own page
What paddlers say
Nelo product copy: 'The new 62 Ski concept by Nelo was developed to target 4 main areas... Stability, Control, Toughness and Speed'; on stability they describe adjusting 'seating height and placement and also the bow angle of attack' so the boat can 'absorb a lot more of the chocks of the ocean' (nelo.eu).Reported experience
Where to buy
Dealers in the markets we have mapped:
Nelo does not publish list prices for its ocean range, and the Australian dealer (Pro Kayaks) still catalogues only the superseded 520/550/560/600 boats, so there is no AU price for this hull yet. For scale, Pro Kayaks sells the outgoing 560 at A$5,700 (carbon/kevlar WWR) to A$6,900 (carbon SCS). Price on application through a Nelo dealer.
