Allwave RS600

Six-metre, 45cm-beam intermediate race hull with strong primary stability for its width. Fine but forgiving cross-section that lets a developing paddler push power without balance anxiety, yet has enough waterline and rocker to come alive and surf hard on big ocean bumps.

Both scores are rated at the hull's own design weight. How these are derived.

kayak.love calls the RS600 an 'intermediate ski' with 'strong primary stability' despite its narrow width, aimed at 'experienced kayakers seeking competitive performance'; Allwave Australia bills it as a 'super responsive intermediary ski, perfect for all conditions but outperforms on big surf.' Faster than a fitness ski but more stable than the elite DNA.

Suits: All-round ocean paddling and racing; a transitional/fitness-to-race ski that especially rewards big surf and downwind runs. Suits paddlers roughly 60-95kg.

Paddler weight

This hull is built around a paddler of about 95 kg. It stays workable from 84 kg to 101 kg, and sits at its best between 88 kg and 97 kg.

Derived from published hull dimensions and calibrated against manufacturer paddler limits, not taken from a marketing range. The method, in full.

Generations

2019-present

Launched at the 2019 Allwave Cup in Talamone, Italy. Top of the RS transitional-race series (RS590/RS595/RS600); the intermediate stepping-stone that sits below the elite DNA line. Full-carbon vacuum-sandwich construction, handles at both ends, same seat/footplate/venturi/cockpit hardware as the rest of the Allwave fleet.

What works, and what it costs you

What works

  • Strong primary stability for a 45cm race hull
  • Comes alive and surfs hard on big ocean bumps
  • Light in carbon layups (1K Brushed ~9kg)

Trade-offs

  • Niche Italian import — hard to demo or resell in AU/NZ
  • Slower and less refined than the elite DNA on flat water
  • Layup weights are indicative and heavier in coloured builds

What paddlers say

Allwave Australia product copy describes it as a 'super responsive intermediary ski, perfect for all conditions but outperforms on big surf' (allwaveaustralia.com.au).Reported experience
kayak.love frames the RS600 as a reliable yet high-performing transitional hull for racers wanting to prioritise power and velocity without balance concerns (kayak.love).Reported experience
