Stability first

The most stable craft in the index

Stability is not a single property. Primary stability is how settled the boat feels sitting still; secondary is what happens once it is already on edge, and that is the one that decides whether an awkward moment becomes a swim.

Every craft here rates 8 or better. They are ranked by that score, but the column worth reading is the one beside it, because at this end of the range each further point of stability is bought with speed and most of these hulls are genuinely slow.

Every score on this site is rated at the hull's own design weight. A stable ski carrying a paddler well over that sits low, loses freeboard and behaves like a narrower boat, so check the weight band before you trust the number.
