Allwave DNA Duo

A 7.5m, 43cm-beam elite double that Allwave describes as a fast downwind boat that surfs easily on its long waterline. Both cockpits use the DNA venturi drains and the fleet's pull-handle footplate adjustment, with paddle and leg leash points.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight. How we rate.

Stability here means how steady the ski feels sitting still on flat water. Where two craft have overlapping ranges, we can't say which is more stable. Downwind handling is a separate thing, covered in the evidence note below.

Evidence note

This band is estimated from published dimensions. Qualitative context includes 1 linked source.

Suits: Downwind racing and open-ocean runs for two experienced paddlers.

Paddler weight

The estimated sweet spot is 60–69 kg per seat, with a broader estimated guide of 49–72 kg. This estimate is a guide, not a limit. Seat fit, conditions and paddling style matter. Lighter paddlers can still enjoy a larger hull, especially downwind. A test paddle is the best check.

Estimated from hull dimensions using a formula fitted to makers’ own paddler limits. It does not establish the designer’s intended paddler weight. How this is worked out.

Generations

by 2019-present

Listed by Allwave Australia since at least January 2019. Called the DNA Double in the maker copy; it uses the DNA venturi drainage for both paddlers.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Long 7.5m waterline for catching runs
  • Corsa build is light for a double at 17kg
  • DNA venturi and footplate system in both seats

Cons

  • Very narrow 43cm beam for a double, so both paddlers need elite balance
  • Ibrida build is heavy at 23kg
  • Hard to find outside Australia and Italy
