Zedtech Dominator

6.58m x 43cm long-distance ocean racer, the boat that launched the brand in 2009 and was pitched at the time as a leaner answer to the Epic V10 of that era. Long waterline, narrow beam, no concession to a paddler still learning to sit on a ski.

Both scores are rated at the hull's own design weight. How these are derived.

Rated from the community chart's 43cm beam and 6.58m length against this index's own scale, not from a paddle test. 43cm at 6.58m is elite geometry: the longest hull on this list at that beam, which buys hull speed and gives back everything else.

Suits: Ocean racing and downwind, in the hands of a paddler already comfortable on a 43cm ski.

Paddler weight

This hull is built around a paddler of about 90 kg. It stays workable from 79 kg to 96 kg, and sits at its best between 84 kg and 92 kg.

Derived from published hull dimensions and calibrated against manufacturer paddler limits, not taken from a marketing range. The method, in full.

Generations

2009-2010s

Zedtech built handmade composite kayaks and surfskis in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The Dominator arrived in March 2009 as the brand's long-distance ocean ski and the Griffin followed that December; a Lightning and an XL version of the Dominator widened the range to four before the brand went quiet.

What works, and what it costs you

What works

  • Elite footprint at second-hand money
  • Longest hull Zedtech built
  • Hand-laid Portuguese composite construction

Trade-offs

  • Brand is gone: no parts, no warranty, no dealer
  • No published weight or layup table
  • Unforgiving beam for anyone but an experienced paddler

What paddlers say

No independent English-language review located as of August 2026. The Dominator was covered by the Portuguese surfski community and the Global Surfski blog when it launched in 2009.Reported experience

Where to buy

The Dominator is out of production. It turns up on the second-hand market; there is no new-boat channel for it.

Maker closed Zedtech is no longer trading. zedtech.pt no longer resolves and no dealer lists the range. The boats survive in community charts and classifieds.

Nobody sells Zedtech new. The second-hand market is the only channel.

Zedtech has not traded for years, so there is no current price. Second-hand boats turn up in Portugal, Spain and Norway.
