Layup weights
On-water profile
Both scores are rated at the hull's own design weight. How these are derived.
Suits: Was raced across ocean and flat-water in its day; as an early-2000s narrow elite hull it rewards a strong, confident brace and is unforgiving for newer paddlers.
Paddler weight
This hull is built around a paddler of about 80 kg. It stays workable from 71 kg to 85 kg, and sits at its best between 75 kg and 82 kg.
Derived from published hull dimensions and calibrated against manufacturer paddler limits, not taken from a marketing range. The method, in full.
Generations
The Fenn Mako Millennium was the brand's reigning top-end single before being superseded by the Mako6 in early 2006. A 'Mako Millenium Double' remained in the range into the early 2010s. This entry covers the single; discontinued, used/collector market only.
What works, and what it costs you
What works
- Won more races than any other double ski of its era (the Millennium Double was especially dominant)
- Simple, robust fibreglass construction, easy to repair
- Historically significant - direct predecessor of the Mako6/Mako Elite lineage
Trade-offs
- Superseded by more stable, equally fast designs (Mako6) as early as 2006
- Narrow, unforgiving hull by modern standards
- Scarce on the used market and ageing glass/gelcoat condition risk
