Nelo Viper 51
Classic-touring-model volume in a 5.2m x 0.51m hull, meeting the Danish rules for excursion/touring kayaks. Nelo positions it as the most traditional, best-balanced Viper - long-time paddlers describe great primary stability, good acceleration/glide and a narrow catch, with lower secondary stability than an intermediate surfski but higher primary stability than most skis.

Generations
The original/founding Viper fitness boat - referenced in a surfski.info thread from 2008, so this shape has been in continuous production for well over 15 years with only incremental layup/fitting updates.

Cons
- Still a K1-style hull - no remounting if capsized, unlike a surfski
- Less secondary stability than an equivalent-width surfski such as an Epic V8
- Requires a protected flatwater venue; not a Gold Coast open-ocean boat

Nelo Australia (relaunched 2024 distributor) lists its general K1 range at AUD $5,700-$8,000 new; EUR price at kayakstore.it is EUR 1,240-3,380 ex VAT depending on layup (A1 cheapest, SCS dearest) - the low end reflects an A1/entry build not commonly shipped to Australia.
