## Specifications

- Deck height: 33.5 cm (estimated)
- Layup weights: Elite Pro 10.7 kg, Elite 12.7 kg, Racing 15 kg
- Usually paddled by: Confident ocean paddlers

## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 4–6 out of 10 (dimension estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 8 out of 10.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is estimated from published dimensions. Qualitative context includes 2 paddler reports and 4 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Estimated sweet spot 72–83 kg, broader estimated guide 58–86 kg. An estimate from hull dimensions, not the designer's intended weight.

## Suits
Open ocean racing, downwind and upwind; rewards a paddler with a reliable stroke. Overkill for flatwater beginners.

## Hull
Long, lean elite ocean hull with soft chines running from roughly 1.2m aft of the bow to 1.2m from the stern and a relatively flat mid-section for glide. Very narrow catch (reviewers called it among the narrowest of any ocean ski), moderate rocker, low volume forward for punching through chop.

## What works
- Excellent stability-to-speed ratio for an elite ski
- Very comfortable Vajda bucket with 19-position no-screw footplate
- Strong build/paint quality, fast self-bailing
- Slightly short length makes it lively in messy downwind

## Trade-offs
- Elite waterline still demands solid balance
- Narrow footwell makes manual bailer awkward in the ocean
- Leash mount near bailer can snag
- Discontinued - parts/dealer support now limited

## Generations
- 2012-2021: Vajda's elite/advanced Hawx, successor to the Orca. Layups: Elite Pro (full carbon), Elite, and Racing (heavier glass/carbon club build). Discontinued and replaced by the Makai 43 around 2022.
