## Specifications
- Usually paddled by: New paddlers

## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 7–10 out of 10 (editorial estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 4 out of 10.

Our estimate from published descriptions and reviews. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is a cautious editorial estimate; it is not backed by a hull trace. Qualitative context includes 1 paddler report and 2 linked sources.

## Suits
A first ski: flat water, sheltered coast and small surf.

## Hull
Entry-level single ski built for maximum primary stability: extra rocker to help it handle waves, and reduced bow and tail volume so it behaves in chop. Point offers it in four construction and weight options. No length or beam is published for it.

## What works
- Four construction and weight options
- Rocker and reduced end volume aimed at real chop
- Pitched at paddlers who have never been in a ski

## Trade-offs
- No published length or beam, so no weight band can be derived
- No published price
- Effectively South Africa only

## Generations
- current: Point Fibreglass builds surfskis, lifesaving craft and malibu boards at 77 Umbilo Road, Congella, Durban. Its own pages describe the Horizon X as an upgraded original Horizon and the Phantom as an upgrade of the Focus: both names this index already holds under Custom Kayaks, another Durban shop. Point does not explain the relationship, so the two brands are kept separate here.

## What paddlers say
- No independent owner review located as of August 2026.
