## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 6–9 out of 10 (editorial estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 6 out of 10.

Our estimate from published descriptions and reviews. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is a cautious editorial estimate; it is not backed by a hull trace. Qualitative context includes 3 paddler reports and 2 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Estimated sweet spot 78–90 kg, broader estimated guide 60–94 kg. An estimate from hull dimensions, not the designer's intended weight.

## Suits
SLSA club racing and surf; reviewer tested launching/landing through dumping beach-break and found it stable, forgiving, easy to catch waves.

## Hull
Diamond planform: sharp slightly-flared narrow nose to punch through waves, widening to beamiest point just behind the seat for stability. Single adjustable footwell, bucket seat only 30mm off the hull for a low CoG, large self-draining floor drain.

## What works
- Notably more stable than the standard PR2, good for larger/beginner paddlers
- Handles surf launches/landings well, catches waves easily
- Large grippy adjustable footplate

## Trade-offs
- Not intended for flat-water distance racing
- Niche/limited distribution, hard to find secondhand
- Cockpit tight at hips/knees for larger paddlers

## Generations
- ~2012-2015: Wider, beginner-oriented variant of the PR2, same length, diamond-shaped hull. Demoed via Paddle Sports SA, reviewed by FatPaddler.com Jan 2013. No longer in current catalogue.

## What paddlers say
- FatPaddler reviewer Brian Partridge (6ft, 105kg): 'great primary and secondary stability... rode over the top of each wave easily' and 'jumped out of its skin to catch the first wave back in' (Jan 2013).
- Same review: speed sits between an Epic V8 and Epic V10 Sport on flat water.
- surfski.info (2022): 'There used to be a Hayden Fatboy known to be very stable, but not sure if still made'.
