## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 7–9 out of 10 (dimension estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 6 out of 10.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is estimated from published dimensions. Qualitative context includes 4 paddler reports and 2 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Estimated sweet spot 76–89 kg, broader estimated guide 62–92 kg. An estimate from hull dimensions, not the designer's intended weight.

## Suits
Purpose-built for downwind surfing and open-ocean/rough conditions; also fine on flat water for fitness paddling; less specialized for pure sprint racing than V10/V12.

## Hull
19'x19.25in hull with increased rocker (borrowed from the Gen-3 V10) for downwind surfing, narrower beam than V8 Pro for a flat-water speed step-up, and Epic's adjustable 4-position foot-operated bailer.

## What works
- Very comfortable, highly rated bucket/seat ergonomics
- Excellent rough-water/downwind manners with strong resistance to broaching
- More stable than expected for its width
- Good speed for an intermediate-class ski
- Fits a very wide paddler height range (4'11"-6'6")

## Trade-offs
- Not the fastest flat-water hull vs slimmer V10/V12/V14
- Used examples hard to find (recent, popular model)
- Slightly nose-heavy compared to newer V10 4G per some reviewers

## Generations
- 2020-present: Single generation. Launched to fill the gap between V8 Pro and V10 Sport; hull borrows Gen-3 V10 rocker/seat design. 2026: Epic AU added a 'Miller's limited edition elite' ~10.5kg layup. NOTE: AU market uses 'V9' as the name for what the US market calls the V8 Pro slot.
