## Specifications
- Length: 6.45 m
- Beam: 45 cm
- Deck height: 34.1 cm (estimated)
- Layup weights: GT pre-preg carbon 9.3 kg
- Usually paddled by: Racers

## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 5–7 out of 10 (dimension estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 9 out of 10.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is estimated from published dimensions. Qualitative context includes 2 paddler reports and 2 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Estimated sweet spot 85–99 kg, broader estimated guide 69–103 kg. An estimate from hull dimensions, not the designer's intended weight.

## Suits
Same ocean/downwind conditions as the standard V10, but the ultra-light, ultra-stiff construction rewards strong technical paddlers most in big downwind swell; owners flag it excels at catching bumps because it planes so easily.

## Hull
Identical hull shape to the contemporary (Gen 3) V10 - same bow, rocker and beam - the GT designation refers purely to the pre-preg carbon autoclave construction, which removes weight and adds stiffness versus the standard Ultra/Elite vacuum-bagged layups.

## What works
- Exceptionally light (~9.2-9.4kg fully rigged) and very stiff - owners report the hull feels/sounds 'more like metal' than composite
- Reviewers/owners claim it is faster than a standard-layup V10 in every condition due to reduced wetted area
- Excellent at catching waves early/planing quickly downwind because of its light weight

## Trade-offs
- Very expensive premium layup for the same hull shape as a standard V10 - no stability advantage
- Black gel-coat versions run hot in direct sun (forum warning of up to 110C surface temp vs ~60C for white, raising delamination risk) - Epic reportedly moved later GTs to white with orange tips
- Premium pre-preg construction not inherently more dent/impact resistant despite the price
- Discontinued/rare - parts, warranty and resale market are thin

## Generations
- 2014-2017 (Gen 3-era): Special/limited-edition ultra-premium layup of the Gen 3 V10 hull - not a hull redesign, a construction upgrade. Built with true pre-preg carbon (fiber pre-impregnated with resin, refrigerated storage, autoclave-cooked at ~200C) for maximum stiffness at minimum weight. Effectively discontinued as a named product; Epic's current 'Super Elite' autoclave layup on the Gen 4 V10 fills the same premium niche.

## What paddlers say
- photofr (Brittany, France - surfski.info forum, ~150km in): 'The GT will not at all disappoint... you will LOVE IT... the boat feels light and lively... just faster than the V10, any day, any time.' Paddled it comfortably in gusts to 55-65mph at 125lbs bodyweight.
- tony h / Rob1 (surfski.info forum, Australia): flagged the [price omitted] price tag and asked whether the GT layup was actually more durable than standard Ultra skis, given carbon layups 'dent quite easy' - no evidence it's tougher, just lighter and stiffer.
