## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 4–6 out of 10 (dimension estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 9 out of 10.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

## Paddler weight
DD3 rates this hull for paddlers from 50 kg to 85 kg.

## Suits
Flatwater racing and ocean racing for experienced/elite paddlers; flat to moderate water

## Hull
Sharp-lined, small-to-medium-volume race hull with a reduced/flatter leg arch (favouring shorter-legged paddlers) and a fairly flat rocker, making it quick on flatwater as well as in the ocean. Narrow 42cm beam gives a fast but demanding, low-stability platform.

## What works
- Flat rocker gives strong flatwater speed plus ocean capability
- Reduced leg arch suits shorter-legged paddlers
- Light carbon layups (~10.5kg Super Maxi)

## Trade-offs
- Narrow 42cm hull is low-stability, elite-only
- Discontinued; no current support or spares
- Width figures vary by source (42cm G2 vs 43cm original)

## Generations
- 2011 (original Turbo): First DD3 Turbo Ocean Racing Ski: 6.4m x 43cm (38cm seat), small/medium volume for 50-85kg paddlers, reduced/flatter leg arch for shorter-legged paddlers, fairly flat rocker suited to flatwater as well as ocean racing. Offered in Standard (fibreglass + carbon reinforcement, [price omitted]) or Maxi (full carbon, [price omitted]).
- ~2017 (Turbo G2, discontinued): (discontinued) Second-generation Turbo, ~6.38m x 42cm, mid-volume elite build (~10.5-14kg across layups). Dropped from DD3's later Skyfall-era catalogue; brand site now offline.

## What paddlers say
- DD3 launch copy: 'The DD3 Turbo boasts sharp lines from bow to stern, with a smaller volume compared to other models... a reduced/flatter leg arch, making it an excellent choice for paddlers who have shorter legs. Its fairly flat rocker means this ski is suited for flat water racing as well as ocean racing' (dd3.com.au, archived 2011).
