## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability rated 8 out of 10 (traced hull, medium confidence).
- Speed rated 6 out of 10.

Modelled from this hull's traced beam and depth at its design weight. Medium confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is based on a trace of this hull’s geometry. Qualitative context includes 3 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Carbonology rates this hull for paddlers from 40 kg to 80 kg.

## Suits
The same water as the Boost X, learning downwind, ocean chop, club racing, for paddlers roughly 40-80 kg.

## Hull
The Boost X footprint, 5.95 m x 50 cm, with the volume taken out of it. The deck drops from 35 cm to 33 cm, the seat narrows from 42 cm to 41 cm and shallows from 18 cm to 17 cm, and the hump in front of the bucket is cut down. Same beam, same length, a materially smaller boat to sit in.

## What works
- Fixes the real problem for lighter paddlers: too much boat, not too much beam
- Shortened cockpit and narrower bucket, not just a lower deck
- Same price as the full-volume Boost X

## Trade-offs
- No steadier than the Boost X: the LV badge buys fit, not stability
- A paddler over about 80 kg will sit it down and lose the benefit
- Easily confused with the Boost X in listings; the two share length and beam

## Generations
- 2018-2022: Boost LV: the Boost with volume taken out from nose to tail, a reduced hump in front of the seat, a shortened cockpit and a narrower bucket, for paddlers too small to load the standard hull.
- 2022-: Boost X LV, the current X-generation hull.
