## Ratings (Surfski Index estimates)
- Stability band 4–6 out of 10 (dimension estimate, low confidence).
- Speed rated 9 out of 10.

Modelled from published beam, length and deck height. Low confidence. Speed is our rating. Both are given at the hull's own design weight.

These ratings are Surfski Index estimates, worked out from published dimensions, traced hull shapes where we have them, and reviews. They are not supplied by the maker or timed on the water. How a ski feels depends on your weight, skill, set-up and the conditions, so use them to shortlist skis and paddle one before you buy. Method: https://surfskiindex.com/how-it-works/#limits

Evidence note: This band is estimated from published dimensions. Qualitative context includes 2 paddler reports and 3 linked sources.

## Paddler weight
Estimated sweet spot 79–92 kg, broader estimated guide 64–95 kg. An estimate from hull dimensions, not the designer's intended weight.

## Suits
Elite ocean racing and downwind; equally at home slicing flat water (reviewer held ~13-14km/h on glass) and surfing ocean swell. Best for skilled paddlers roughly 65-100kg.

## Hull
Full-length 6.4m elite ocean hull at 42.8cm beam with well-balanced volume and unchanged CX rocker. High primary stability for an elite ski without sacrificing speed; snug narrow seat and raised rails. A genuine surfing machine that accelerates onto even small runs and holds a diagonal line without broaching.

## What works
- Elite surfing machine that jumps onto the smallest runs
- Unusually stable for an elite hull once dialled in
- Top-notch build quality and cockpit/footplate hardware

## Trade-offs
- Narrow seat and higher rails make remounts trickier
- Tippier than an advanced ski like the Fenn Swordfish
- Rare Italian import: hard to demo or resell

## Generations
- ~2011-2018 (Allwave CX predecessor): The DNA's direct ancestor; reviewer Rob Mousley found the CX fast but 'a little tippy.' The DNA name reflects combining the 'genes' of Allwave's previous designs.
- 2018-present (DNA 640): Elite flagship, built just outside Rome by Allwave Kayaks (CEO Roberto Spigoli). Refines the CX: cockpit and rudder moved 7cm forward, raised rails for a drier cockpit, slightly more nose volume, longer footwell for taller paddlers; hull rocker unchanged. Full-carbon vacuum sandwich, ~11kg in carbon.
- 2023-present (DNA Large): Wide-seat version sold alongside the standard DNA 640: same hull, seat widened from 42.8 to 45 cm, seat and rudder 7 cm further forward. Ibrida 13 kg, Corsa 11 kg, Brushed 10 kg, 1K Brushed 9 kg; [price omitted] to [price omitted] (Allwave Australia).

## What paddlers say
- surfski.info first-looks (Rob Mousley, 2018): 'the DNA gave me a taste of what it feels like to be an elite paddler'; it 'loves to jump onto a wave, however small' and he grew more stable the longer he paddled it (surfski.info).
- Allwave Australia describes it as 'a fast and well balanced ski' that will 'confidently slice through the ocean swells whilst being highly competitive in calmer/flat waters' (allwaveaustralia.com.au).
